Creating Culture is a slow but beautiful process. We have to first recognize that each of our residents come in with their own set of cultural norms and values. Each of our staff also have their own culture. Making space for each person to be where they are at is part of the process as well, but the real growth happens when we work together to build an inclusive culture within each of our youth homes. A culture that values a person, not based just on performance or achievement, but because they carry intrinsic value. A culture that practices patience, and shows grace to each other when we aren’t at our best. A culture that holds each other accountable, and empowers each person to become the most balanced, healthy version of themselves. A culture that truly believes that love never fails, and has the ability to see beauty even in dark places. This is the kind of culture we are creating. This fresh, safe space to be who you are, but connect to something bigger than yourself. To see the needs of others and help them find their way forward, this is a culture each and every one of us needs to to be part of. We must seek after it and nurture it wherever we can. Growth, healing & wholeness can all be found when our hearts realize nothing is hopeless, no person, no circumstance.
