New Challenges & New Victories!

Challenge:

In this line of work we are always in a state of transition. Transitioning with our residents coming in and going out; the current changes in our managment and staff teams; the transition caused by policy changes, new treatment plans and new incidents. There seems to always be a change to grapple with. Research shows that, while changes can cause us to be more flexible and more adaptable it is also very tiring. Change is good for us in many ways, but it is not easy. We as a team are committed to inhabiting this space of constant change with grace and stability. We are learning how to faithfully do our part, but ultimately how to trust God with each new change we encounter.

Victory:

Our team in Malawi has just finished harvesting maize! This staple crop was planted on the 4 acres of land that we were able to purchase last year during our outreach trip. Already we are seeing incredible progress thanks to the dedication of our Source Malawi team led by Pastor John Ng’oma and Pastor Mika Kayusa. The work in Malawi is progressing well, and we praise the Lord for the men & women who are there daily caring for the needy.

Challenge:

We are hiring line staff for each of our 4 homes and the need continues for people with resilient love who have a heart for assisting young people in need. Showing them patient and persistent care, teaching social skills and impulse control and allowing them to process the grief they have experienced is part of the daily work we do here. Victory:

Camaraderie is a priceless commodity! Watching our staff teams interact with the residents and each other is inspiring! We have more than 60 different staff in the Spokane area, from different walks of life, different cultures, and unique giftings all working together. They show these teens that their lives have purpose and they can allow themselves to hope and trust. We are extremely thankful for our line-staff, our management teams, our admin team, directors, executive team & board members. What a privilege to share this work with people who can shoulder the heavy stuff and make you laugh at the same time!

Meet Our Staff

Danielle is the program manager at our Riverbluff home. Riverbluff has gone through a complete renovation and awaits it’s newest residents. Danielle has been invaluable these past months as she navigate building and training our Riverbluff team.

“I have been in this field for over 13 years now. I have worked with DDA for over 10 years. I have an Associates degree from Shoreline Community College in Sociology. I am 2 quarters away from completing my bachelor’s degree from Arizona State University. Majoring in Sociology and minoring in Psychology. I have a passion for helping others and enriching others’ lives. I advocate for those who cannot advocate for themselves. I have many certifications including my Registered Behavioral Technician cert, Peer Coaching, and Residential Care CORE Trainer certification. I have experience working in BRS, supported living, in-home care, psychiatric facilities, and have worked closely with community protection. I am a positive, dedicated, driven, and compassionate leader. I loved being a part of a team and learning from others. I love spending time with my family and friends, writing music and cooking delicious food.”

We are very excited to have this dedicated and driven woman on our team!
