All Staff Training

Every month we gather together for a training time with all our staff.

This month we gave a training on Child Development Theories, with the goal of growing in our understanding of the kids we work with, and how trauma can affect the stages of development.

Staff members worked in teams to create a visual of the ways they could use a specific theory to help in the homes that they work in. Then they shared it with the rest of the group.

We were so impressed with their creativity, team work and ability to translate the teaching into a practical tool for the benefit of our kids! Good job guys!

The Source Summer BBQ

Every summer Chris and Zara Knowlton host a Source-wide BBQ. It’s a fun-filled day with a dunk tank, bouncy castle, good food and great people! All of the kids living in our homes are also part of the fun, as well as staff member’s families. Connecting with each other through fun and conversation is such an important part of this job. It give space to tell stories and encourage each other in the values and calling we share.

We played team games where each of the 4 homes competed against each other for points. The cheese puff toss was a favorite and made for some fun photos!

We love that our staff members are willing to engage with our kids and get involved in all the silly activities. These people are simply fantastic!

The winning team ended up with 30 cheese puffs stuck to the shaving cream covered shower cap. Nice job team!

A BIG THANK YOU to our incredible team of people, spanning 4 different homes, each with their own challenges, but filled with people who truly care for the needs of these youth. Their committment to show kindness, patience and to protect the kids from the destructive patterns they’ve been caught in, is truly inspiring.

Just 7 weeks until our team of 10 travel to work in Malawi for two weeks! We are thankful for this opportunity to serve, and excited to see our Source Malawi team again!
