The Source Malawi

A beautiful little girl enjoys a meal provided by The Source Malawi.

Our Program Director in Malawi, John Ng’oma has visited several villages, bringing food, supplies, and the hope that comes from Jesus to those in need. Partnering with him and his team means that we can share the love of God even from this far away.

We are excitedly planning to send an outreach team - made up of some of our Spokane staff- to spend some time with our Malawian brothers and sisters in September of this year. Our heart is to humbly serve and assist them with their work in Lilongwe and the outlying area.

Grace House has also begun serving at Higher Grounds Animal Sanctuary. We are amazed at the impact that caring for others in need has on our kids.

Beginning this month we will also be partnering with If You Could Save Just One, a local non-profit that hosts after school programs for at-risk youth. Our kids will be helping to pack snack bags to be handed out.

Murals for The Source Homes

In an effort to help our residents feel more ‘at home’ in their rooms, we decided to paint murals on their walls. The kids were able to be part of the designing process with our Ministry Director, Naphtali Morden, who made visits to discuss favorite characters and colors with each of the kids. She came back with sample ideas that the kids and house managers approved of, and now the painting has commenced!

It is very satisfying to see the brilliant smiles spread across their faces when they see a favorite super car or Mindcraft character painted on their wall. This is one way to get decor in their spaces without adding hazards. Frames, canvas, tacks, staples and glass don’t generally work for their rooms, but this alternative has prioritized the safety of our kids, while still giving that personalized touch.

Meet Our Staff

Alex is one of our Program Managers at Hilltop. She has been with us over a year now, and proven herself to be a kind, compassionate and resilient caregiver.

”I have been with The Source for a year now, and it truly feels like home to me! I started as a line staff, then worked myself up to management. I’ve experienced my own hardships and trauma throughout life, so helping our youth in crisis has always been dear to my heart. After all, our youth are our future!

The Source immediately took me in and made me feel like family - this connection was something I desperately needed as most of my family lives in Georgia.

“I’ve grown so much while working with The Source, but my patience has definitely been the biggest growth in my career. I’ve learned how to better handle stressful situations with so much more patience in my heart.”

Alex also brings a ton of fun to our Hilltop Youth Home and we are so thankful that she is part of our team. Thank you Alex, you’re a gem!

Prayer Points

We currently have 4 placements open between our Riverbluff and Hilltop homes. Join us in praying that God will bring in boys that will benefit from our programs and are able to receive the guidance and care we offer.

Pray for the blessing of the Lord upon HRC Ministries and If You Could Save Just One. Both of these local non-profits are working to make a difference in the lives of the broken and needy in our communities, and we are thrilled to be partnering with them in their work.

Pray for our team to receive strength and resilience from the Lord. With progress comes change and many adjustments. We need the flexibility to adapt well with all the staff shifting and kids coming in.

Pray for The Source Malawi to have every need met, both financially, and spiritually. Pray that God makes a way forward to purchase land and set up a more sustainable situation for the staff and children over there.

The plan is in motion to send an outreach team to our fellow-laborers in Malawi. We could use prayer for this to come together smoothly, and for abundant provisions as our team members begin fundraising.
