The Warm Heart of Africa welcomed our tiny team with open arms! The goals for this two-week outreach were to purchase supplies and begin building the 2nd home on the Source Malawi land. to visit village churches, bringing supplies and gifts to our brothers and sisters in Christ who have less opportunities and resources. to look for ways we can begin training on sustainable agricultural and skilled trades.
We had many unexpected changes prior to our departure, including the fact that our fearless leader, Chris Knowlton, was not going to be able to join us. Thankfully, we were still able to meet all of our goals and enjoy a wonderful two weeks with some incredible people!

They also pastor a village church and run the feeding program there, as well as bring ministry and supplies to multiple other villages across Malawi. |

A team of 11+ men worked tirelessly in the hot sun to dig the footings and lay the foundation. It was incredible to watch their progress with buckets, shovels, wheelbarrows and a few other tools.
|

As of this week, the timber trusses are on, and roofing is next!

Our Team in Malawi runs 2 feeding programs, one in Area 36 Village, and a brand new one in Chimbo wa Mwale, the village near our Source Land. Every Saturday from 9am-noon the kids gather to play games, sing songs, learn about God and their value to Him, and enjoy a hearty meal prepared by our staff. It was a great time for our team to join them for a few songs and short stories about Who the true Source is (Jesus!) and how He is a very Good Shepherd !

The outreach team from Spokane loved spending time on the Source Land with our Malawi brothers and sisters! We played frisbee, soccer, helped food prep, and learned how to play the very popular game Bao.
|
|
Our Malawi team has planted many acres of maize and also a small garden with sweet potatoes, pumpkins and peppers. They are also raising chickens. We are excited about the future of the beautiful land God has provided. There are many ideas for ways we can develop the land, and create a sustainable resources of maize, animals farming, and even skilled trade training centers. For now, we are deeply grateful for the character and integrity of our team in Malawi, and the care they are showing for what God has provided!

Pray for a smooth recovery for Chris Knowlton, who had surgery while our team was in Malawi. Pray for the finances to purchase a water pump and solar system for both homes on the Source Land. Pray for each of our Malawi staff and their children, that God would keep them safe and strong. Pray for wisdom and strategies to build sustainability and on-going resources for the people of Malawi. Pray for the right partnerships and connections for this work.
